The Abcs Of Safety When Dealing With Bad Tires On A Busy Highway

As a daily driver, you are probably like most folks who put a lot of faith in the fact that their vehicle will get them where they need to go, However, when it comes down to it, cars are still just machines and they do break down and have problems on occasion, especially when it comes to the tires. Even though it can be frustrating to be stranded on the side of the road in your vehicle with tire problems, it can also be dangerous. Here are a few simple safety rules that you should keep in mind while you are waiting for someone to come to your rescue or if you are trying to fix a tire on your own on a busy highway.

Always Know When To Stay In Your Vehicle – When you break down on a busy highway, immediately get your car out of harm's way if you can, and stay inside of your vehicle unless it is absolutely necessary that you get out. Most drivers will not be expecting a car on the shoulder, and especially will not be expecting a person on foot. If you must get out of the vehicle to install a spare or take a look at a damaged tire, make sure there is no traffic coming and do what you can to stay visible, even if this means you have to climb through the passenger door or carry a flashlight.

Be Cautious of Those Who Stop to Help – Even though there are many good citizens who sincerely want to help, it is not always easy to know the difference between someone trying to help and someone with ill intentions. Therefore, always use caution when someone approaches your vehicle when you are having tire issues. Crack the window slightly to speak to people who stop and do not open your car door for people you do not know. Make it known immediately that you have help that will be arriving any second.

Call a Towing Service Right Away – It can be dangerous for a vehicle to be situated on the side of the road, especially on highways where there is a narrow shoulder. Therefore, it is best to go ahead and call someone you know can help right away, instead of getting in touch with friends and family members who may not be able to come to the rescue. The quicker you make the call, the faster you can get your vehicle out of harm's way or your tires fixed.

It can be terribly frustrating to discover that you have tire issues as you travel down a busy road. Make sure you stay safe while you wait for your aid to arrive or try to handle tire issues on your own, and never hesitate to just stay in your car and call for help. Contact a local auto service company, likeBearsch's united Auto Center, with any questions.

About Me
what to car sounds mean?

I have an older car that is constantly in the shop. Yes, this car does cost me a bit each year to keep on the road, but what I pay in repairs is much less than what I would pay to buy a new car. I have learned a lot over the years of driving this car. I have found out what just about any sound means and what it takes to make those repairs. If your car is making a funny noise or two, take a minute to read through my blog. You might find that I have already experienced that sound and have provided you a solution to the problem.
